LITTLE NEXT DOOR

I took a short trip down to LA this weekend, and picked up some food at Little Next Door, an adorable little French spot in Fairfax. Not only do they have the tastiest almond croissants and coffee cups the size of my head, but the interior is gorgeous yet quaint....luxurious yet comfy. It has a great outdoor patio too.

Electric blue paint coats the walls and ceiling and is paired with lots of gold accents, a wall of wine and French bistro chairs. And did I mention coffee cups the size of my head??

 

BLUECOAT

I grabbed lunch at one of my new favorite spots in the city today — Farmer Brown.

Yummy buffet brunch + live music + great crowd = one happy me. 

We sat at the bar while waiting for a table, and I couldn't stop staring at this one gorgeous sapphire-toned glass bottle, sitting on a shelf that was backlit with the bright Sunday sun. The bartender noticed and brought it down for the shelf so that we could snap a pic. The pattern on the front is etched and though you can't tell from the photo, the logo and type are done in a gold foil.

I have a weakness for gorgeous colored/stained glass, as seen here.

I'm in awe of these wonderful little handmade prisms filled with wonderful little things. They'd make a great gift (for me, of course!)

FLUENT STEPS

If you happen to live in Tacoma, Washington, boooy are you lucky (and how often do you hear that?)

Martin Blank Studios has created something wonderful that they call Fluent Steps. It's a hand-sculpted glass installation at the Museum of Glass, and it's utterly, undeniably beautiful. Installed in an actual fountain, it's meant to abstractly mirror the shapes and 

properties of water. 

Stunning, no?

Check out these beautiful stained glass mobiles! Cool and modern...a bit Alexander Calder-esque, no?

I love the simplicity, the shapes, the translucent nature of them. Imagine the shadows they would cast if placed near a sunny window? Love them!
