OH MY....

How I love these so. These were created by the one and only Paul Rand. The first is a poster for the Poster for Aspen Design Conference in 1966. The second was created for Pastore Depamphilis, Rampone in 1985 and just makes me feel swell.

I love getting a peek into artists' homes and studios. Check out this piece about Amsterdam-based illustrator, Parra.

I used to have some of his pieces tacked to my office wall, so watching this makes me reminisce a bit...

THE TWILIGHT ZONE

I stopped by a pretty great magazine/book shop in Piedmont today with a pretty great name: Issues. Picked up the latest issue of Elephant, and discovered Julien Pacaud, digital collage extraordinaire. Using vintage photos taken between 1900–1960, Julien layers them with bold color and modern shapes. The result? Surreal and otherworldly environments that keep me looking over my shoulder for Rod Serling.

...just some juicy packaging design bits (except for the Liz Taylor one. That's a self-promotional poster) from New York-based design studio, Mogollon.

I love the very graphic touches (b/w stripes, symmetrical shapes) and how they interact with the gold foil and photography.

Aren't these just lovely? Yellow Owl Workshop thinks so, and that's why they designed them. My fave? Probably the last one. 

AND the San Francisco-based studio uses non-toxic water-based inks and 100% PCW recycled paper, making them eco-friendly.

ZOVECK ESTUDIO

...is magical.

I just discovered this Mexico City-based studio today. It was formed in 2004 by Julio Carraso and Sonia Romero.

Anatomical studies (to put it mildly...take a closer look at the 4th image down. Whoa!) + all things kitsch + a twist on stereotypical Mexican themes = visual overload that keeps you asking for more.

THERE'S SOMETHING SO 

RIGHT ABOUT THIS...

...and I'm having trouble describing my feelings for it any other way. Is it the lovely color combination? The composition? The pouty red lips and sleepy eye? The way that one tendril hugs the "P" in Publicity? Yes. Yes. Yes. And yes.

This is a Japanese magazine cover from 1929, yet, if designed today, it would be just as striking and unique. I'd take this over an overly retouched and overly smily celebrity face any day.

Oh my.

German design agency, Korefe, created these INCREDIBLY LOVABLY CUTE YET MANLY (grrr) designs that I'm simply crazy about. They're for The Deli Garage, so Korefe reflected the company name by housing all of the products in packaging that you might find at your local Aamco.

Unappetizing? Who cares? Pass the honey please!

I must, must, must find an excuse to work with this man. I simply have no words to express how intensely I LOVE HIS WORK.

The candy-like colors, the flatness of the illustrations, the playful nature of the type. It's all too much for me. And by too much, I mean I can't get enough!!

I almost want to eat them. Or wear them. Or hug them.
