I DIE

(thanks Rachel Zoe)

There are few things I love more in life than a stocked kitchen (even if only stocked with LOVELY mismatched, colorful kitchenware). One of those things is a stocked home library.

Drool.

These photos are of a 5-bedroom guesthouse called Chambres en Ville in Brussels. It's owned by some guy named Philippe, and it used to be a mirror factory.

See/book here, although I will be VERY jealous if you stay there before I get a chance to.

You And Me The Royal We's "Places in America" print....

How Paula Scher of them.

I love it...the colors, the woodgrain, the handwritten state names, the quirkiness of it all.

Buy one here (and get me one too, while you're at it).

Jean Cocteau, photographer unknown

Cocteau (1889–1963) was part poet, filmmaker, playwright, illustrator, painter, boxing manager, novelist, postage-stamp designer....

This photo captures his multi--faceted character...but mostly, I'm drawn to the shapes that the multitude of hands create. He has been transformed into a French version of Durga.

Read more about his intriguing life here.

BAMBOOZLED

These are riiight up my alley. Too bad I don't have an iPhone, and have settled for the undisputedly inferior BlackBerry.

These laser engraved 100% bamboo iPhone cases made by Grove make quite a nice contrast when paired with the black, monolithic, ultra-modern phone design, don't you think? You can customize one (with your own artwork!!) or choose from the Artist Series.

See/buy here.

WHEN HIPPOS (SORTA) FLY...

By Muro, as seen in the Canary Islands.

Something about this is quite uplifting (pun intended).

They look so calm! I wouldn't be if I were being squeezed like that....

MATT LYON

I'm salivating. Are you?

I must, must, must find an excuse to work with this man. I simply have no words to express how intensely I LOVE HIS WORK.

The candy-like colors, the flatness of the illustrations, the playful nature of the type. It's all too much for me. And by too much, I mean I can't get enough!!

I almost want to eat them. Or wear them. Or hug them.

See more of his work here.

SIDEWALK FINDINGS:
ASTORIA EDITION

Queens and baseball. Two things I never do, and yesterday I did them both. Very out of character for me, but my Shake Shack burger at Citi Field made up for it.

On the way back home, I passed by this SUPER CUTE sign outside of Sage Grocery. Hand painted and adorable, it doubles a menu. The sign alone made me more inclined to actually have some of their food. I'm the same way with wine labels.

See it in its entirety on their site, here. My favorites are the "Spit-Roasted Birds" and the "Buckles Slumps & Grunts". Too bad I was too full to try any of it!
